Boot cuffs and fingerless mitts

Winter is coming and there for also the season for long boots. But it can be a little much having an entire sock or leg warmer inside your boot. But I love the look. So these boot cuffs are just brilliant.
You can turn one pair of boots into many by making these in your favorite colors.
I made mine in 100% wool so they are nice and warm but you can make them in any type of yarn that fits a 4-4,5 mm hook.
Make the matching fingerless mitts and you have a great gift for someone you love or just for you.
The pattern is easy to follow and the result is just great.

Childrens leg warmers

I made these leg warmers for my niece.

The top is made by ch 9 skip the first ch and sc 8.
[Ch 1 turn, sc8 in back loop only.]
Continue from [ to ] until you reach the circumference of your child's calf.
Sl st both ends together to make a circle.

Join in a new color and Hdc in the end of each row, sl st in the first Hdc to end the round.
Hdc in same st (first st of previous round) and in each st round, sl st in first Hdc to end the round.

Continue like this until you reach the desired length.

Change color for every 4th row.

At the end I have made a row of my own kind of bobble stitch.
(Yarn over hook, through the st, pick up yarn, 3 loops on the hook, yarn over, through the st, pick up the yarn, 5 loops on the hook, yarn over, through the st, pick up yarn, 7 loops on the hook, pick up yarn and draw through all loops, make a sl st in next st)

Or make another kind of edge.
This pattern is more like guidelines, you can make this in any way you like.
You can also decrease by 1 st every 3 or 4 rows, to make the leg warmer more tight if you don't want a loose fit at the bottom.

Color changing tip:
Instead of cutting the yarn when changing color, just put the ball of yarn through the loop and pull tight.
Just leave it there until you need it again and then pick it up and make a sl st.
Fewer ends to weave in.

These I made for my little 3 year old girl.
The only difference besides the size is the end. I made 3 rounds of Hdc and decreased by 3 st in each round. That gives a tighter fit around the ankles.

Pattern for children's slipper socks

Childrens slipper socks

Will fit a 3-4 year old depending of the yarn and hook you use.
I used heavy Cotten and a 5,5 mm hook

To make different sizes see further down.

Ch - chain
Sc - single crochet
Sl st - slip stitch
St - stitch
Sc2tog - single crochet two stitches together. (decrease)

Ch 8 to begin

R1: sc in 2. Ch from hook and across, turn the work around and sc on the opposite side and across. (14 st)

R2: 2 sc in first st, 1 sc in the next 5 st2 sc in last st - twice (18 st)

R3: 2 sc in first st, 1 sc in next 7 st2 sc in last st - twice ( 22 st

R5: 2 sc in first st, 1 sc in next 9 st2 sc in last st - twice (26 st)

R6-20 (or until you reach the beginning of the heel) 1 sc in all st (26 st)

R21: 1 sc in the next 13 st,  ch 1, turn.

Now you will crochet the heel.

R22: 1 sc in next 13 st, ch 1, turn.
R23: 1 sc in next 12 st, ch 1, turn.
R24: 1 sc in next 11 st, ch 1, turn.
R25: 1 sc in next 10 st, ch 1, turn.
R26: 1 sc in next 9 st, ch 1, turn.
R27: 1 sc in next 8 st, ch 1, turn.
R28: 1 sc in next 7 st, ch 1, turn.
R29: 1sc in next 7 st.

You now have a series of steps, you will be crocheting in the sides of these steps (between them) and in the unworked st.

R30: sc in side of the first step and sc in the unworked st, sl st in the side of the next step, turn ( no ch 1).
Skip sl st and sc in next 9 st.

R31: sc in side of the step and sc in unworked st, sl st in the side of the next step, turn, skip sl st and sc in next 11 st.

R32: sc2tog in side of step and unworked st, sl st in side of next step, turn, skip sl st and sc in next 12 st.

R33: sc2tog in side of step and unworked st, sl st in side of next step, turn, skip sl st and sc in next 13 st.

R34: sc2tog in side of step and unworked st, sl st in same sc as the beginning of the heel, skip sl st and sc in next 14 st.

R35: sc2tog in side of step and unworked st, sl st in side of next step, turn, skip sl st and sc in next 28 st.

R36 - ? Sc until you reach the desired length.

Fasten of and cut the yarn. Weave in ends.

To make the sock slimmer you can skip round 5 or you can make your beginning chain shorter. If you skip round 5 your heel will be a little different because you also have to make fewer steps, but it works just as fine for me.
To make it wider you can ad extra ch to your beginning chain.

Just remember when you reach round 21 you need to sc in half the number of stitches of the entire round. Then you just decrease by one st per round from round 23 until you reach the number of stitches in your starting chain (minus the one you turn on, so ch 8 = 7 stitches) And then you continue from round 30 until you run out of steps.

Cute stars

Start with a magic circle.
15 dc in the circle and pull tight.
Sl st in the first dc
Ch 5
Sc in 2. Ch from the hook
Hdc in next st
Dc in next st (twice)
Skip 2 st and sl st in next st

Do this 4 more times
Fasten of, cut the yarn.

And make lots of them :-)

Crochet Christmas hearts

My colleague found this and I just had to try to make it. The pattern can be found here.

Children's slipper socks

I finally had the time to make these for my daughter. They turned out pretty great I think. I have to make a few changes to the pattern, which right now is a bunch of small notes :-) but I will hopefully have it ready this weekend.
